Anambra Police Nabs 4 for Blackmail, Love Scam, Conspiracy


The police command in Anambra state has announced the arrest of one Okechukwu Ogoejiofor and three of of his accomplices for their involvement in alleged blackmail, love scam, conspiracy, stealing and forceful demand.

Ogoejiofor 36, was arrested was arrested on Thursday in Ajakpani village, Umuanya, Oyi council area of the state, alongside Esther Nwafor lfeanyichukwu and Obianuju Nduba, both of whom are 20 years of age.

A statement by the Command’s PPRO, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed that the suspects were arrested following intelligence reports that indicated that they are involved in the use of social media to lure unsuspecting male contacts into a prearranged room, where Obianuju Nduba engages the victim in a sexual foreplay during which her accomplices would force their way into the room and proceed to take nude pictures/videos of the victims.

Subsequently, they would use the pictures and videos as blackmail tools to force the victims into transferring huge sums of money to them, with threats to publish same on social media if the the victims fail to comply. That is in addition to dispossessing some of the victims of their personal belongings.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects used the social media to leave mure their unsuspecting male victims into fake love/friendship affairs. They thereafter, take the victim to a room, where Obianuju Nduba engages the victim in a foreplay. The other members of the gang force themselves into the room, take nude pictures/videos of the victims, which they use to force the victims into transferring huge sums of money to them, with the threat of publishing same on social media if the the victims fail to comply and also dispossess the individual of his personal belongings,” the statement read in part.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
