Bandits Attack Uromi Banks With Explosives


*Policemen, Others Feared Dead
REPORTS from Uromi, headquarters of Esan North East council area of Edo state, have it that bandits have attacked three banks in the town.


The attackers in their numbers reportedly attacked the two banks, UBA, Zenith and First banks with explosives after allegedly shooting policemen on guard duties.

Although there is no confirmed casualty reports, eye witness accounts say several people, including policemen on guard duties may have lost their lives.


Eye witnesses also told our correspondent that the attack lasted for well over 1 hour without any police intervention.

Our correspondent who saw a number of injured people soaked in their blood also confirmed ongoing exchange of gun fire as at the time of filing the report.


It would be recalled that banks in the town was the focus of persistent attacks a few years ago, forcing them to alter their operating hours.
