CONTRARY to the optimism expressed by Olajengbesi, one of Sunday Adeyemo’s counsels, less than 24 hours ago that he will soon breath the air of freedom, 2n-network can report authoritatively that the Yoruba Nation agitator, better known as Sunday Igboho, will spend the next half a year in Cotonou detention.
This was disclosed by another of his counsel, Chief Yomi Aliyu, in a chat with newsmen on Sunday.
According to Aliyyu, Ignoho’s incarceration has been renewed by the Beninois authorities even without any criminal charge formally laid against him or extradition request from the Nigerian government.
“Contrary to what was speculated in the news by a lawyer, the government of the Republic de Benin has renewed the incarceration of Chief Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho Oosa for another six months even though there is no criminal charge in their file in Cotonou and without extradition request from Nigeria.”
Aiyyu vowed however, to approach the court of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, for redress.
“We will approach the ECOWAS Court which they never obeyed,” he vowed.
Igboho, escaped from Nigeria after operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, raided his Ibadan home on the weehours of July 1, 2021. He was however, arrested Benin Republic security agents on July 19, aboard an aircraft, enroute Germany, alongside his wife, Ropo who has since been released.
