*No Word on Abba Kyari
AGAINST the Valentines Day, February 14 date earlier slated for passing judgement on alleged international Internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, the United States Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, has announced a new July date for same.
Director of Media Relations, Thom Mrozek, announced the new date which he said will now hold on Monday, July 11,2022. He also disclosed that Judge Otis D. Wright in Los Angeles granted the order for postponement after Hushpuppi’s lawyers led by Louis Shapiro entered a request for postponement.
“The sentencing hearing that was scheduled for later this month has been delayed.
“At the request of counsel, the sentencing is continued to July 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. It is so ordered,” Mrozek said.
In a plea agreement, Hushpuppi who may land with a 20-year imprisonment with a 3-year supervised release, a $500,000 or twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offence”, pleaded guilty of sundry internet scam and among others, money laundering offences.
But there are no words on the court’s initial order on the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, to arrest the suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari, over his alleged role in a $1m scam by Hushpuppi and his allies.
