Rail Tracks Looting: Five Arrested in Ogun, Oyo

PRIVATE security agents engaged by Chinese Civil Engineering conglomerate, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, have arrested five suspects alleged to be involved in damaging and pilfering rail tracks across the South west zone.

The operatives, employed to monitor activities of rail vandals and robbers, made the arrest when they picked up two suspects around the Odediran area of Ogun state with 75 pieces of Pandrol clips, elastic bands or fasteners attached to base plates to secure the rail from moving vertically or horizontally.

The operatives nabbed three other suspects in Ologuneru area of neighbouring Oyo state with additional 147 pieces of the same materials.

They also recovered a commercial motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects.

According to cCompany sources say CCECC has lost well over 30,000 pieces of the items since it began work on the project, a reason it had to employ private security personnel to help monitor its equipment.

A commercial motorcycle which was allegedly used by the suspects, was also recovered.
