*Only 10 of 262 Inmates Recaptured So Far
THE ministry of interior has released the identies and photographs of inmates that escaped from the Jos Medium Custodial Centre on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
In a statement made available to the press on Thursday, the ministry advised the general public to notify the nearest police station if any of the escaped inmate is sighted.
It warned that it is a crime punishable by law to render any form of assistance to an escaped inmate(s), adding however, that they are dangerous.
According to the ministry, only 10 of the escaped inmates have been recaptured.
“The above wanted persons escaped lawful custody from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Jos on Sunday 28 November, 2021.
“Please call the Complaints Response Desk of the Nigeria Correctional Service, NCoS on 09060004598, 08075050006 for tips, sightings or any information on the whereabouts, a reward awaits anyone with useful information.”
On Sunday November 28, about 262 inmates escaped from the centre following an Invasion by unknown gunmen.
Initial reports had it that the invaders were trapped inside the facility when security guards attached to the facility, assisted by reinforcement from security agencies, surrounded the centre. However, neighbouring attempted invaders. However, about 262 inmates succesfully made their way out of the centre after setting ablaze the centre’s record office.
