More trouble for Baba Ijesha

*As Another Girl Alleges Defilement

MORE troubles seem to be unfolding before Olarenwaju James Omiyinka, aka, Baba Ijesha, the embattled Yoruba actor, who has been embroiled in a defilement case involving a 14 year-old minor when she was 7.

The actor is facing facing a six-count charge including indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.

But new reports say he is also involved in another fresh child defilement allegation. That is according to the testimony of a police operative, ASP Wahab Kareem, attached to the state criminal investigation department, SCID, Yaba, while appearing before an Ikeja special offences court on Friday.

Kareem, the fifth prosecution witness in Baba Ijesha’s trial for the defilement of the minor, who was led in evidence by state counsel, Yusuf Sule, disclosed that Baba Ijesha has also been accused of assault by another girl.

During our investigation, another girl, name withheld, came forward and said the defendant assaulted her when she was 12 years old,” the police officer told the court.

We interviewed her and the defendant behind the counter, and he vehemently denied the allegation.

The girl said the incident occurred at Agah area of Ikorodu, and we told a representative of the defendant to follow us to the house, and we met the landlord.

The landlord showed us an apartment and said: ‘This is where Baba Ijesha used to stay’. But the defendant had denied living in that area.”

Following the testimony, the statement of Jameel, Baba Ijesha’s former landlord, was admitted in evidence.

Meanwhile, a video recording of Baba Ijesha at the SCID in which he allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting the foster daughter of Damilola Adekoya, comedienne, was also played.

Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the judge, adjourned the case until November 12 for the continuation of the trial.
