Olejeme Remanded

AN Abuja Federal High Court has ordered former chairperson, board of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, Mrs Ngozi Olejeme, to return to the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC until Friday.

The judge, Justice Maryam Hassan, gave the order on Thursday after listening to submission of both prosecution and defense counsels over her bail application.

She is to remain in custody pending the ruling on Friday, on her application.

The former NSITF board chairman is in custody over her alleged involvement in the misappropriation of N69bn, a case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, diversion of public funds and money laundering, offences that were reportedly committed between 2012 and 2015 while she was in office as board chairman of the NSITF.
