It was a moment of unimaginable tragedy on Tuesday as a group of yet-be-identified gunmen suspected to armed south east nationalists opened fire on traditional rulers who were in a meeting in Nnenasa, Njaba council area of Imo state.
Sketchy information from news sources say two of the traditional rulers died on the spot with casualty figures expected to rise. Several traditional rulers are reported to have received various degrees of of bullet wounds.
Obi 1 of Okwudor autonomous community, Eze E. Anayochukwu Durueburuo and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebineowerre autonomous community, are among those confirmed dead from the incident.
It is the second high profile murder by suspected ESN gunmen following the recent gruesome murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili.
