Re: Kano-Bound Freight Train Torched By Unknown Hoodlum

On Thursday, October 7, published a story with the above self explaning title.

We wish to state however, that the story is not entirely a true reflection of events. Our findings indicate that the story is deficient in factual details. We found out that:

1). There was indeed a fire incident involving one, not two coaches.

2). The said coach is not part of the said Lagos/Kano freight train. It is an abandoned, disused one, converted by miscreants, into a den for their nefarious activities.

3). The coach was not set on fire by any act of deliberate arson directed at derailing the federal government’s efforts in the transportation sector but an unexplained happenstance.

By this, we wish to tender an unreserved apology for reporting the case erroneously.

We offer this apology even though the report was not meant to defame Otta and or her noble citizens or mislead our esteemed readers.

Kindly accept our apology.
