Nigeria/CAR Match: Not More Than 50,000 Spectators-CAF Tells Nigeria

THE Confederation of African Football, CAF, has disclosed that Thursday’s match between Nigeria’s Supper Eagles and the Les Fauves (Big Cats) of the Central African Republic, CAR, will not be a free-for-all spectators’ affair.

The Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, confirmed the development on its official website.

According to the continental football governing body, only about 50,000 football fans will be allowed in the Teslim Balogun stadium, Onikan, Lagos, to watch the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying match. The reason, CAF say, is to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The 50,000 fan specification may have become a benchmark for CAF-approved matches at the Teslim Balogun stadium as it was the same number that it approved for the Nigerian/Liberia’s September 3 encounter at the same venue, against NFF’s 12,000-spectator request.
