Kano-Bound Freight Train Torched By Unknown Hoodlum

*2 of 15 Coaches Completely Burnt

UNKNOWN Hoodlums in the Offa area of Kwara state set ablaze a Kano-bound freight on Tuesday. The state command of the Nigerian Fire Services, which confirmed the incident on Wednesday, were however, on hand to put the blaze under control but not before wo of its goods-laddened coaches were completely razed.

Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, who confirmed the incident, explained that the train was on a routine trip from Lagos to Kano when it stopped over at the Offa train station for minor repairs during which the hoodlums attacked and set it on fire, completely burning all the goods inside the affected two coaches before fire fighters brought the blaze under control.

“The incident occurred about 5.17pm at Offa Railway Station in Offa, Kwara State. Out of the 15 coaches contained by the affected train, two were burnt until it went off due to the rigorous efforts made by fire fighters.”
