Osimen Could Become the New Drogba-Rohr

Nigeria’s celebrated new football sensation and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimen, may soon rise up to assume the same status as Ivorien legend, Didier Drogba, who was one of the best strikers in the world during his playing days.
Super Eagles handler, Gernot Rohr, made the assertion while reacting to the Nigerian striker’s brace against Leicester City on Thursday.
In the match that saw his Italian team, Napoli, down by two goals, Osimen rose like Phoenix to conjure up two goals that sent a chill round King Power Stadium and made Brendan Rodgers wish he wasn’t in the dug-out as Leicester’s handler for the night.
The brace was enough for Napoli to take a point back to Naples for a promising second leg and on a light the Napolitan team was poised to loose all three
“I think Osimhen has what it takes to become a great striker, one of the best ever,” he told tuttomercatoweb. But he still has to grow,” the tactician pointed out.
The feat, according to Rohr, is an indication that if well harnessed, the young star may well be on his to becoming Africa’s highest paid footballer and indeed fill in as the continent’s finest striker, a position Drogba left vacant upon his retirement from active football.
“He can become the new Drogba. I have no doubts about this. Victor has many qualities that recall those of the Ivorian legend,” Rohr noted.
Drogba, the former Ivorien international is arguably one of the finest strikers to come out from Africa who gave Premiership, European and African club defenders unending nightmares during his playing days. He is known to have netted 105 goals in his two playing spells with Chelsea.
Already earning €81.3m, a club and an African record fee, the Nigerian international has already scored 50 career goals and obviously rearing for more, a reason why Rohr holds the view that though the lad may have had hiccups, he’s got enough qualities to take his game to an all high.
