Butchers Nabbed Selling Decayed Cow Meat


Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Monday, September 18, nabbed a meat seller, one Bashiru Bala-Zuru and Nawali Bala in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, for attempting to sell decayed and contaminated cow meat.
The arrest is as contained in a statement issued by the Corps and signed released to newsmen on Sunday by the command’s image maker, Mr Babawale Afolabi. According to the statement, Bala-Zuru and Nawali Bala were picked up in in Patigi, Edu council area if the state.
“Around 8 pm on September 18, NSCDC officers at Patigi Divisional Headquarters, acted on information received and arrested Nawali Bala, a native of Okoloke, Kogi, with some contaminated cow meat.”
Afolabi added that the suspect confessed receiving the contaminated cow meat, packed in a sack, from one one Dantani Jayewu of Okoloke, Kogi, who is now at large. According to him, test carried out on the meat at the Ministry if Environment and Public Health confirmed that indeed, it was unhealthy for human consumption.
He discosed that the arrested suspects are billed for a court appearance at the conclusion of Investigation. .
