Legendary Nigerian musician, Sir Victor Efosa Uwaifo, has reportedly passed on. Though details of his transition re still sketchy, sources say that the Joromi crooner died early Saturday after a brief illness of unconfirmed nature.
A social media post, said to have originated from a close family source, reportedly gave out an the news of his passing.
“Daddy whyyyyyyyyyy. Did you leave us now? Prof sir Victor UWAIFO has gone to rest,” the post read.
Sir Uwaifo, also known as the Guitar Boy by his innumerable fans, celebrated his 80th birthday in March. Apart from being the first commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria, he was also the country’s first professional musician to receive the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger, MON.
