Zangon Kataf Relives Morbid Memories

*Counts Its Dead from Attack by Unknown Assailants

In the early hours of Sunday, Ungwan Dooh, Mado, village in Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna state, came alive. But it was for the wrong reason as unknown assailants invaded the agrarian community. While at it, they reigned bullets at any and everyone within their visual range. At the last count, several persons lay dead, many more were injured just as an unspecified number of people are yet to be accounted for.
“Many persons are feared dead, with one person injured following an attack by unidentified persons in Ungwan Dooh, Mado, village of Zangon Kataf LGA,” Kaduna state Commissioner for Internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said.
Thus far, security operatives drafted to the village have recovered 9 dead bodies while the search for the missing continues. They are also said to be after the unknown assailants who were reported to have voted with their as they fled the scene on seeing troops deployed to the area in response to the people’s distress call.
The attack, though not yet linked to the old tribal war that pitched residents of the council area against one another, there are indications that members of the affected communities are once again reminded of experiences they want to forget. A resident, who refused to be named for security reasons, disclosed that though they are not too sure of who their attackers are, the people in the affected communities are however, looking in the direction of their neighbours. The development, he said, is creating tension among the people.
“We cannot rule our neighbours out. We may if someone explains how the attackers passed certain areas to and from attacking us without being detected,” he asked rhetorically
