9 killed in Kaduna’s Intra Bandit Clash, Angst Over Ransom-Sharing Formula


Two bandit groups, operating in forests around Giwa local area of Kaduna state, went for each other’s jugular on Friday, killing 9 of their members. This was disclosed on Friday in a statement by the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan.
According to the Commissioner, a fight broke out when one of the bandit groups stormed the operational base of its Comrade in arm, teeing off a serious exchange of gun fire during which the victims lost their lives.
“Intelligence sources had reported that a notorious bandit known as ‘Godon Mota’, stormed Garke village last Wednesday with his gang and clashed with a rival bandit group, leading to the killing of nine members,” Aruwa said.
The bandits, according to the commissioner, unleashed hellfire on themselves following alleged disagreement over formula for sharing accumulated ransom. He explained further that though full details for the face-off were still hazy, credible sources, including intelligence and security networks, indicate that indeed, the gun duel resulted from a disagreement over sharing of ransom which, he noted, irked one of the groups which felt cheated.
Explaining further, the commissioner disclosed that the incident took place on Wednesday when one Godon Mota, described as a notorious bandit, stormed a rival’s camp in Garke village with his boys, who wasted no time in unleashing a whirlwind of gunfire which resulted in the death of the 9.
