*Concealed Inside Hair Relaxer Cream
It was pay-day for Mrs Nnadi Nora Chinyere on Tuesday, August 3. Nnadi, a Florentine, Italy bound traveler on a Qartar Airways flight, was nabbed by NDLEA operatives at the departure hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, with 102 wraps of illicit drug suspected to be heroin, crammed into five containers of hair relaxer cream.
The disclosure is contained in a statement made available to newsmen by NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
Babafemi added that on Thursday, August 15, 2021, the agency’s operatives also intercepted a United Kingdom bound consignment with substances confirmed to be cannabis sativa at the NAHCO export shed of the same airport. According to him, 66.600kg of cannabis, 1.600kg of heroin and 1.450kg of cocaine, all with a combined weight of 69.65kg were recovered.
“On Thursday, August 5, narcotic officers on routine patrol intercepted another consignment of 25.8 kilograms of cocaine and cannabis concealed inside foodstuffs going to London, UK at NAHCO export warehouse. When the export package was opened and examined, 2.3kg of cocaine and 23.5kg of compressed cannabis were discovered inside.
During a patrol operation along Akure-Owo road, a team of operatives from Owo Area command of the Agency equally intercepted a bus from Lagos en-route Owo to Ibilo, Kogi State on August 7. Recovered from the vehicle include six parcels of skunk weighing 3.6kg; 30 pinches of Crack Cocaine weighing 87grams and six sachets of Arizona weighing 265grams. Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the drug trafficking,” Babafemi said.
Meanwhile, Friday, August 13, turned out to be another catch-day for NDLEA operatives of the Benue state command. While on a routine patrol check at Apir-Aliade road, Makurdi, they arrested one Eze Victor Ezenwanne. He was caught in possession of 65.436kilograms of diazepam tablets on the same day Borno state command operatives nabbed Adeyemi Segun Olamide, a suspected fake soldier. He was arrested in Maiduguri, Borno State with 650grams of skunk.
In Ogwashi Uku, Delta state, on Wednesday, August 11, operatives from the Delta state command picked up a Nigerian Army ex-staff sergeant, Muffat Ekong and one Frank Iredia Obamwonyi, with 286.3kg of cannabis. They were reportedly on their way to Enugu.
