*As Irigwe Youths Clash With Fulanis
Youths in the Jos North local government area of Plateau state clashed headlong with their Fulani counterparts around Rukuba Road in Jos on Saturday. Reports have it that scores of persons from both sides were killed in the process.
Reliable sources say that fight broke out when some buses were seen carrying some Fulanis towards Rukuba road where Irigwe people and other sympathisers were waiting for the corpses of six of their people recently killed by suspected herdsmen.
The incident has since been confirmed by Plateau state police command spokesperson, ASP Gabriel Ogaba, who said,
“Yes, there was unrest at Rukuba Road of Jos North LGA.
He added that security personnel have been drafted to the area and have since brought the fight to an end.
“Security personnel have been deployed to the area and have taken charge. At the moment the area is calm and residents are going about their lawful businesses,” Ogaba said, adding that the command will communicate details of what happened shortly.
“Details about what happened will be communicated shortly,” he said.
No casualty figure has however, been released at the time of filing the report even as security operatives have taken away the dead and injured.
