Agency Reports have it that Argentine football maestro, Lionel Messi, is on the verge of a contract breakthrough with French side, Paris Saint-Germain, PSG. According to the reports the French club is keen at quickly getting the signature of the 34 year-player after it his former club, FC Barcelona could not sort out details of a nearly settled contract renewal.
According to the reports, negotiations are at an advanced state with the player’s father, Jorge Messi, who doubles as his agent, billed to fly to Paris shortly to put final touches to the deal that will see Messi linking up with his Neymar.
Uncomfirmed reports have it that Messi will pick up a €50m package from what is speculated to be a two-year deal with an option of a year extension.
Meanwhile, Messi is reported to have turned down the offer of Neymar’s number 10 jersey, picking instead, jersey number 19, which he once wore in his early days in Barcelona.
While Messi is already being missed in Nou Camp, with the club captain penning a “We’ll miss you.” farewell message to him, PSG coach, Mauricio Pochettino, is having a ball at the prospect of a truly big catch. Asked what he thinks of the prospect, he said,
“When you talk about players of his stature, I think that many clubs, and in this case, Paris St Germain, these opportunities sometimes come up and sometimes they don’t.
The club is working hard, as I said, and if there is any information we will let you know. In every case, we are evaluating the options, and of course this is one of those.”
