*45 Feared Killed
*50 Houses Razed
Barely 24 hours after eight persons, including two aid workers, were gruesomely murdered by suspected herdsmen in communities in Guma local government area of Benue state, another set of agrarian communities in the same council area played unwilling hosts to the marauders on Tuesday, July 20.
By the time the unwanted visitors were done, 43 people, including a three-month old baby, reportedly lay dead with 50 houses burnt to the ground.
Eye witness report has it that the incident occurred when gunmen around Torkula village attacked a bus conveying a group of mourners who were returning from a burial ceremony at Umenger. The attack resulted in the death of at least three people with two others currently receiving treatment for bullet wounds in a Makurdi based hospital.
