Bawa who made his pledge upon assumption of office fulfill the pledge on Wednesday when he launched “The Eagle Eye”, an app developed solely by the commission’s tech savvy team to ease crime reporting and or whistle blowing processes.
Bawa who spoke during the launch, describe “The Eagle Eye” as first of its kind by any law enforcement agency in the country conceived and designed by the ingenuity of a staff of the Commission, as a new experience in informations sharing and crime reporting between the commission and the Nigerian public.
“The Eagle Eye represents a new experience in information sharing and crime reporting between the public and the EFCC”, Bawa announced.
Bawa disclosed that apart from complementing existing economic crimes reporting channels, “The Eagle Eye” comes with the unique advantage of eliminating direct person-to-person interface which interferes the principle of anonymity. This, he noted, is an added incentive to effective whistle blowing.
“…with the App, those who hitherto were afraid to report corruption cases to the Commission either for fear of being identified by the culprits or having their identities revealed, can now do so with the assurance of full anonymity.”
Bawa who emphasized that The Eagle Eye App will go a long way in will go a long way in boosting fraud reportage, particularly as it affects money laundering through Real Estate, enjoined the media to make use of the App and at the same time help others to understand its deployment in the fight against economic crimes.
“With the Eagle Eye, you have, at your fingertips, a device that will ultimately ensure that there is no hiding place for the corrupt in Nigeria. With the Eagle Eye, Nigerians and Non Nigerians can easily take a picture of a property suspected to have been fraudulently or corruptly acquired and report through the App seamlessly”, Bawa explained.
