Rage of Bandits in Kaduna

*Over 100 Students Abducted

The reign of terror continues as bandits in their numbers broke into Bethel Secondary School in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna state and abducted students whose numbers are yet to be accounted for even as some media reports put it 100.
The event, which happened at about 1am on Monday is coming barely 24 hours after a similar incident in which babies, nurses and security guards were abducted from the residential quarters of the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Centre, NTLC, in Zaria, Kaduna state.
An eye witness who does not want to be named, 100 is a conservative estimate of those abducted as according to him, the number is likely to be more.
“Over 100 students were abducted, both boys and girls, even though the school is still trying to compile names but the number may even be high,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna Police Command, which is yet to confirm the number of students kidnapped from the boarding school, noted however, that a joint team of the Police, Army and Navy operatives have already been drafted to locate bot the abductors and students. The team, according to the statement from the command, has succeeded in rescuing 26 students and a female teacher.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that there was an incident at the school but the joint security team comprising the police, army and others have rescued 26 students,” the command’s spokesperson said.
“I escaped narrowly myself. They came around 1a.m and started shooting. I was at the back of the school dormitory when I heard the gunshots and decided to hide,” one of the school guards said.
Informed sourced disclosed that the school had already concluded arrangements to relocate the students to another location to continue with their preparation for their forthcoming examination.
