Covid-19: Nigeria Registers 50 New Cases, 1 Death


Latest figures figures released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, indicate that the country recorded an additional 50 new covid19 cases as of July 5. The report also stated that one the country recorded one fatality.
Further information gleaned from NCDC website on Tuesday morning shows that Nigeria’s active covid-19 cases were still above 1,300 but that the additional positive samples of the virus were recorded in four states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. Lagos tops the number with 31 cases, followed by Yobe with 11.the FCT and Rivers come a distant third and fourth with 4 and 1 cases.
The newest figures, slightly below Monday’s 56 cases, raised the country’s total figures to a worrisome 167,909 with fatality put at 2,122.
Meanwhile the NCDC said it has tested 2.3 Nigerians and that 164,400 have recovered from the virus after treatment. It added however, that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre, EOC, activated at Level 2, continued to coordinate the national response activities.
