*As Gas Tanker Looses Control, Falls into Market, Killing Many

A gas laddened tanker lost control as it approached Bode market, Molete in Ibadan, Oyo State, allegedly crushing 10 and injuring more.
But the state police command has revealed that the accident claimed only five lives. The corpses, according to police spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, have since been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary adding that relevant agencies were in the process of evacuating both the overturned truck, other affected vehicles and also identifying the dead victims.
Eye witnesses say the driver lost control of the vehicle around Idi Arere area of the ancient city but kept struggling to regain control. He however, could not control the struggle as it approached the market which was not so populated the day being a Sunday.
Reports also indicate that fire fighters quickly rushed to the scene and succeeded in preventing the overturned trailer from either leaking out its content or exploding. However, residents are still scared stiff of possible explosion, a development which has forced any of them to keep off the area until it is certain that there are no chances of explosion.
