Our problem is not ethnicity or religion, it is ourselves.”
-President Muhammadu Buhari, on the problem with Nigeria.

He has been brought back to Nigeria, in order to continue facing trial after disappearing, while on bail regarding 12 count charge against him.”
-Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on the arrest of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

People who could not win ordinary election, the party used technicality, went to court and got victory for them. Now, they say they are leaving the party; hopeless, shameless human beings, people who have no conscience.”
-Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on the defection of Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle, from PDP to APC.

Let me emphasise that APC governors and government of APC are overbearing on the system and moving to poach our governors, and this to them is regarded as an achievement. I have never seen where you have economic crises, insecurity crises, then the ruling party goes poaching governors, and 18 governors as published on social media will be moving, leaving their states to celebrate the killings of innocent citizens in Zamfara state or hunger in Zamfara state? This is a shame and it is laughable.”
-PDP national chairman, Uchie Secundus, on the defection of PDP Governors to the APC.

I don’t have the power to fight the Federal Government. In fact, I can’t fight an ordinary Local Government Chairman. But the battle is the Lord’s. God who is the head of the battle will fight for us. Our own generation will emancipate the Yoruba race from slavery,”
-Yoruba freedom fighter, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka, Igboho, on confrontation with federal government

The relevant section and charter presuppose that the detainee should be humanely treated while in the custody of the state.
“What it means is that it is the duty of the government in this instance to protect him and ensure the respect of his fundamental human rights while his trial lasts.
“For now, it is trite law, that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty
.”
-Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, on the need for the federal government to protect IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu in custody.

It appears that our leadership in the north is yet to understand and appreciate the bad situation of our youths. They are time bombs that can explode at any given moment.
It is utterly injurious and catastrophic to delay any action to salvage them from lethargy, drugs and substance abuse and despondency, banditry and many more vices we can think of.
No sensible being will be happy to rely on any form of palliative. Every average person wants to earn his living.
Our leaders must show enough seriousness on the future well-being of youths. They must find the way and means to encourage them in productive activities.
As critical stakeholders, it behoves on us to conscientiously address our State governments in the north to take decisive actions towards industrialising the region.

-Chairman, Board of Trustees of Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Ambassador Shehu Malami, on the need to curtail emerging youth restiveness.
