Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday: Bulls on Parade at Last

Trading at the floor of the Nigerian Stocks Exchange ended on a Bull’s note on Thursday as equities ended with a positive breath. At the end of trading, investors exchanged a total of 167,407,438 shares in 3,256 deals akl with a market value of N1,829,544,398.13
Compared to Wednesday’s trading, Thursday’s outcome shows 20% decline in volume, 14% improvement in turnover and 3% dip in deals.
Market capitalization stood at N19.79 trillion slightly above Wednesday’s N19.71 trillion
Unlike Wednesday’s exercise which had 100 listed equities in participation, 104 Equities took part on trading at the exchange on Thursday among which 20 were on the gainer’s roll chart, with 14 at the loser’s end.
Portland Paints & Products topped the gainer’s table with 10% share price gain at N2. 64 per share, leading Mutual Benefits Assurance which came second with +10%.
Learn Africa and Eterna came third and fourth with +3.96% and +3.92% respectively.
Juli came tops on the loser’s table with an end-of-day price dip of 9.56% at N1.23 per share, leading Aiico Insurance which came next with -7.41%. Chams and Champion Breweries came next with -4.76%, -2.44%.
Zenith Bank recorded the highest trade volume of 13.8 million traded shares followed by Sovereign Trust Insurance which made a 12.75m turnover. Others include United Bank for Africa with 11.76m and Mutual Benefits Assurance with 10.96m.
Other market indices include North looking benchmark All-Share Index, NSE-ASI, of 149.89 at 0.4% points to close at 37,954.35. The figure represents a 1-week loss of 1.71%, a 4-week loss of 0.73% and an overall year-to-date loss of 5.75%.
