Security operatives are on the hunt for an unidentified person who reportedly lured three Quranic male students to a bush where he cut off the hand of one of them. The incident, which took place in Pategi in Pategi local government area of Kwara state, is suspected to be part of some rituals.
A statement signed by the public relations officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara state command, Babawale Afolabi, noted that the unidentified individual lured the 7 year-old Almanjiri lad identified as Usman Abubakar, and two others into his car with assurances he was taking the unsuspecting lads from one Mallam Aliu Adamu Islamic school, Pategi, to somewhere he can buy food for them.
“The suspect, who is now at large with the part of the hand he cut, then drove into a bush and when he was struggling to cut his hand the other boys, the other two Alimajiri escaped from the suspect.
Presently, one of our officers is in the hospital where the victim is being attended to. Three other surveillance officers have also been directed to go to the scene of the incident as described by the victim.
Efforts is also ongoing to alert and share the information with other security agencies in Pategi local government area so that the suspect could be arrested.”
