Herders Kill 6 in Katsina-Ala, Abduct Several Women


Six more people were on Wednesday afternoon killed by alleged herdsmen who stormed Anyom community in Mbatyula ward, Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue State.
Media aide to the chairman of the council area, Terseer Benga, who confirmed the development, disclosed that the attackers invaded the victims’ farmlands with their cows which went on to destroy all the crops on their path. Thereafter, the herders swooped on and killed the hapless farmers before allegedly abducting a number of women whose whereabouts are still unknown.
“The invasion by the herders took place between 3p.m and 4p.m. on Wednesday in Anyom, a Kastina-Ala community which borders Taraba state. Six people were confirmed dead at the moment, while the whereabouts of some remained unknown,” Benga said.
Benue state Police Command spokesperson, DSP, Catherine Anene, said however, that she was yet to get any details of the incident.
