We Are Funded From Abroad, Hardboiled With Aguleri Charms-ESN Suspects

Stanley Osinachi, the only surviving individual of an alleged 6-man Eastern Security Network group, led by one Joseph Uka Nnachi, alias Dragon, has disclosed that ESN is being funded from monies remitted from abroad. Osinachi made the disclosure while being paraded at the Imo state police command after being captured after a gun battle with security agents comprising ghe police and its other sister agencies.
Osinachi’s team which is described by the police as those responsible for the series of mayhem in and around Owerri, including attacks on police formations, were alleged to be out to unleash mayhem in Owerri in the early hours of Sunday before being ambushed by security operatives, killing 5 in the process.
“I want to tell you that in our camp is only dragon that wears military uniform and our charms are prepared at Aguleri in Anambra state. It is our people from abroad that send money to us through Dragon. It is Dragon that will go and collect the money and bring it for our feeding and other of our needs.”
Osinachi, an indigene of Mbieri, Mbatoli local government area of the state, also disclosed that he was recruited into ESN by leader of the team, Dragon, adding that members of the group are being fortified with charms procured from an Aguleri based native doctor.
“Dragon recruited me by calling me on phone to join the Eastern Security Network, ESN. I was recruited for the past three days. Even when I wanted to leave, he said he will kill me. Our camp is at Akabo in Ikeduru local government area, that is where we normally operate from and plan for our operation and Dragon told us that part of our plan is to be killing and burning police stations.” Osinachi revealed.
Describing how he landed in trouble, Osinachi explained that his group set out for an early morning raid on certain police station but that security operatives intercepted his team along the line following which both sides exchanged gun fire leading to the death of five of his colleagues.
“Policemen got me when we came out as early as 4am to attack Owerri. We are more than 7 in number coming to attack and five of us were killed by the police. I am the only person that survived,” Osinachi narrated.
On how the group operates, Osinachi explained that only Dragon is allowed to wear uniform or liaise with Nnamdi Kanu, regarded by the group as Supreme Leader. He added that funds for operation and other logistics are also channelled through the same Dragon just as he is the one who gives instruction on operations.
“Dragon tell us to kill police people and collect their guns for us to use it for operation. We even kidnapped a police woman officer and kept her in our custody so that she will be given us information.”
Police sources disclosed that information about the ESN attack came in at the early hours of Sunday morning,following which security operatives lay in wait.
“On 6th June, 2021 at about 0615 hours when Imolites were preparing to go to Church, hoodlums planned to turn the beautiful Sunday into a black Sunday with an attempt to attack Owerri the State Capital. The attempt was vehemently repelled by the gallant forces of the Army, Police Special Forces and other supporting security agencies.
The attackers who came in a white hummer bus, allegedly attempted to access the Command Headquarters through Works Layout, around Alvan Nursery and Primary School Owerri. They were however, countered during which a fierce gun fight ensued. Members of the group were Intercepted at the outer perimeter cordon provided for the Police. Five members of the group, including Dragon were killed in the ensuing exchange.
“One suspect Stanley Osinachi ‘m’ 30 years old of Achi/Mberi, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State was arrested and presently aiding investigation. He confirmed that Dragon is the leader of the gang in Imo State reporting to their supreme leader Nnamdi Kanu. He stated that, they belong to the proscribed IPOB and ESN.”
The Police added that it recovered four AK47 assault rifles with 2000 rounds of ammunition from the assailants adding the group, alongside others who were killed in previous operations, were responsible for series of attacks in different parts of the State.
“Four AK 47 Rifles with 2000 rounds of live ammunition and large number of explosives were recovered from the scene. The Rifles breech numbers were crossed checked and found to be the same Police Rifles that were stolen by the hoodlums from our Police station at Omuma on 31st May, 2021 which claimed the lives of four Policemen.”
The same gang together with other members that were killed in previous operations were responsible for series of attacks in different parts of the State. They are the same people in the viral video that blocked the flyover at Orji and killed three unarmed civilians, including a woman they brought out of their vehicle blindfolded. A Police Inspector sustained gun shot wounds during the exchange of fire this morning and is currently receiving medical attention.”
