The Kebbi state Police Command appears to be in a limbo as they contend with a seemingly overwhelming avalanche of raids by bandits which resulted in the murder of about 88 people in Danko/Wasagu local government area of the state.
The Police command which confirmed the killings on Thursday, disclosed that the victims were murdered across eight communities in the council area, adding that it had dispatched a detachment of operatives to the affected areas to maintain what it described as “law and order”
“The killing took place in Koro, Kimpi, Gaya, Dimi, Zutu, Rafin Gora and Iguenge villages, all in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State. Initially, the bodies recovered were 66 but as I am talking to you now, about 88 bodies have been recovered,” the command’s Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Nafi’u Abubakar,said.
In a similar manner, bandits also visited deaths on a number of communities in Kaduna state leaving five people dead. The incident reportedly took place in Chikun and Igabi local government areas of the state
According to the state’s commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, the bandits killed two persons in Chikun alongside torching two buildings, including one of worship. The other three victims were killed at Lamar Zango area, along the Kaduna-Zara road in Igabi council area.
