Doctor Killed, Roasted in Zamfara
Investigations have commenced in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital, over the gruesome murder of a consultant, Dr Enoch Okpara, whose body was also barbecued by his killers. The revelations were made by the state police command who told newsmen that gunmen invaded the victim’s residence, shot and went ahead to have his body roasted at his Mareri, Gusau residence.
“His roasted body was discovered in the courtyard of his residence while bloodstains were seen on the walls of his room,” the police said in a statement.
Concerns over the where about of Dr Okpara began when he was absent from church services on Sunday, following which members contacted some of his associates with a view to finding out his where about. But subsequent attempts to reach him via his phone lines were unsuccessful prompting the need to raise the alarm by reaching out to the police.
Zamfara Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Police Superintendent Shehu Mohammed, told newsmen while confirming the report that the command received the sad news and nvestigations to unravel those behind the murder are already on.
According to SP Mohammed,
“The unusual disappearance of Dr Okpara was first noticed when he did not show up during church service in the state.”
“The Police Commissioner has since ordered for the immediate commencement of investigation with a view to arrest the culprits and bring them to book,” the PPRO has said.
Until his death on Sunday, Dr Okpara was a Consultant Obstetrics/Gynaecologist at the Federal Medical Center, Gusau.
